Our group was invited to dinner at a tourist-oriented location that featured Turkish folk music and dancing. It was very crowded, with tourists from the U.S., Malaysia, China, Canada, Chile, Brazil, Australia, and England.
The music was okay, but then the dancing started. I have always thought belly dancing was very silly. However, after seeing Asema, who is known to be one of the best belly dancers in Turkey, I know how athletic and strong a dancer must be. I also know how these dancers are respected - when Asema performed, all of the servers and other employees who were Turkish stopped to watch. If you get a chance, you can see is Asema is on YouTube. Her performance was amazing.
